Harrison House Christiana Celebrates 5-Star Rating in Quality Measures!
The team at Harrison House of Christiana is celebrating being awarded with the highest rating in Quality Measures by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after a year of hard work and persistence.
The Five-Star Quality Rating System is a tool developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to help patients and their loved ones compare skilled nursing care communities. The rating system assesses various data, including quality measures. There are sixteen quality measures, and the team at Harrison Senior Living tackled each domain, recognizing that these improvements would ultimately lead to better resident care.
These measures paint the picture about how well a community is caring for the physical and clinical needs of their residents. Included in the sixteen measures are residents with pain, pressure ulcers, urinary tract infections, and the use of anti-psychotic medications. Director of Nursing, Brandie Marino, shares, “the use of anti-psychotic medication in the elderly is far too common. We wanted to reduce the amount of these kinds of medications used with our residents. As a team, we decided to take a step back and look at our residents as individuals. We figured out how we can take the information we have and improve upon it. Our hard work has paid off, as we have achieved a five-star rating!”
