Harrison House of Chester County Competes In Annual Mac & Cheese Cook-Off
Harrison House of Chester County competed in the Thorndale-Downingtown Rotary Club’s annual Chester County Mac & Cheese Cook-off competition. Despite a rainy day, the event drew over 1,400 people to Kerr Park in Downingtown. Harrison House came prepared with more than twenty pounds of Mac & Cheese complete with homemade stewed tomatoes!
Of the fifteen competitors, Harrison House’s recipe, “The Gratest Mac,” won first place in Kid’s Choice and placed 3rd overall for People’s Choice! The panel of judges placed “The Gratest Mac” second in the business category, however resident’s of Harrison House place this recipe at the top, celebrating it as one of their favorite meals!
The Rotary Club’s Mac & Cheese Cook-off originated from the idea of holding an event that promotes the use of local food products and encourages sustainable agriculture, while bringing awareness of what’s available in the public’s backyard. It is a great community event and Harrison House looks forward to competing again next year!
