Whether you’re looking to develop a short-term rehabilitation plan after surgery or you’re looking for more of a long-term care solution, there is a lot to think about when choosing a skilled nursing facility. You likely have plenty of questions, and we’re here to help with the answers!

Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question below or you need more information you can contact us at any time or call (302) 856-4574.

My family member is currently in the hospital and needs short-term rehab. What do you offer?

The rehabilitation team at Harrison House develops comprehensive, individualized care plans in order to achieve a resident’s independence, safely and promptly. We are professionals serving the often-complex medical needs of residents. We work diligently to help them regain the skills needed to be successfully independent.

If my family member is currently at home, how do I help him or her to be admitted to Harrison House for long-term skilled nursing care?

If you believe that your family member needs the medical attention and support of long-term care, please call our Admissions Office at (302) 856-4574 to schedule a meeting so that we may meet you and/or your family member to discuss his/her needs. We will also schedule a time for a member of our nursing staff to come to your home and conduct a medical assessment of your family member to make sure that admission to Harrison House of Georgetown will be the best decision for his/her needs. You should also notify your family member’s primary care physician that you have concerns about your family member’s healthcare needs.

What will my primary insurance cover?

Before your family member enters Harrison House, our admissions director will verify and review with you the primary insurance coverage so that you will be aware of any co-pays. Many of our residents have Medicare as their primary insurance. Medicare will cover up to 100 days in a skilled nursing care facility after a three-night qualifying stay in a hospital occurs within a thirty-day window. A co-payment is applied for days twenty-one through one hundred. If you have inadequate financial resources to help to pay any co-pays, our business manager will guide you through the Medical Assistance application process.

What are the next steps once my family member is accepted to Harrison House of Georgetown?

Once your family member has been accepted, our admissions director will call to set up a time to meet and complete admissions paperwork with the responsible party. We will go over insurance coverage and Harrison House policies and procedures. A copy of any power-of-attorney paperwork, living will, and medical cards will be made at this time. If the resident requires a medical assistance grant to help cover their stay, our business manager will assist you as described above.
